Overclocking MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GAMING X SLIM WHITE 16G
To overclock the MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GAMING X SLIM WHITE 16G video card we are going to use MSI Afterburner. We were able to increase the power target, the core frequency, and memory. We were not able to increase Voltage, but we could change the fan speed, which wasn’t necessary. We did make sure it could go up to 100% if needed, automatically, but it never needed to.
In MSI Afterburner we can increase the Power Limit by 18% from 100 to 118%, which gives us good headroom for not having power hold us back, it should give us good room for overclocking. With this set, we were able to push the Core Clock up +170 on the Core Clock slider and the memory was up +1250. For the GPU clock speeds, we’ll look at the graph below, for the memory overclock that brings the memory up from 18GHz (2250MHz) to 20.5GHz (2253MHz) for a bandwidth increase from 288GB/s to 328GB/s with the overclock.
The NVIDIA reference boost clock for the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is 2535MHz. The MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GAMING X SLIM WHITE 16G has a factory overclocked boost clock of 2670MHz. As we can see above, the MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GAMING X SLIM WHITE 16G is actually boosting well above that to 2760MHz out-of-the-box, this shows that the slimmer profile is not holding back the clock frequency at all. That is a 3% boost over the quoted boost clock from MSI.
When we overclocked the GPU with +170 on the core and had the power increased, we can see that the boost clock is now a much higher 2925MHz and is very consistent. BTW, we made no changes to the fan speeds at all, we simply left them on automatic and the MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GAMING X SLIM WHITE 16G is still providing a very consistent clock frequency without fluctuation while overclocked. At 2925MHz the MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GAMING X SLIM WHITE 16G is boosting 6% over the MSI factory overclock and 15% over the NVIDIA reference spec.
