Lionsgate has released the first trailer for The Crow, a modern remake of the 1994 superhero movie from Alex Proyas that marked Brandon Lee’s final film appearance due to a tragic accident where the actor, just 28 at the time, was fatally wounded by a prop gun during filming. This time around, the titular character is played by actor Bill Skarsgård (It, Barbarian), who features the same death-defying powers but is covered in tattoos—a design choice that was seemingly inspired by Jared Leto’s Joker, as seen in DC and Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad films.

Synopsis and trailer:

Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.
