Star Wars: The Acolyte Trailer Reveals Younglings, Wookie Jedis, and Carrie-Anne Moss with Force Powers

As promised yesterday, Lucasfilm has uploaded an official trailer for The Acolyte, revealing the first footage for the new Star Wars series that is set during the High Republic era and the prime of the Jedi Order. The show arrives on June 4, 2024 on Disney+, with a two-episode premiere.

Trailer and synopsis:

An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master against a dangerous warrior from his past. As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems…

Key characters include:

  • Mae (Amanda Stenberg)
    • Mae gets swept up into a sinister mystery—one that puts her into the center of a conflict in unexpected ways.
  • Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae)
    • Master Sol is a wise, highly respected, powerful Jedi Master, strong in the ways of the Force, who is going through emotional conflict.
  • Jecki (Dafne Keene)
    • Jecki is the Padawan apprentice to Master Sol. Although she is young, she projects calm and conducts herself with maturity.
  • Kelnacca (Joonas Suotamo)
    • Kelnacca, a Wookiee Jedi, is a loner who lives a solitary life.
  • Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss)
    • Master Indara is a Jedi Master of great physical and mental skill.

The Acolyte comes from:

…creator and showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), who also serves as executive producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are the co-executive producers; Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim, and Rob Bredow are producing.

Headland also directed the premiere episodes (episodes 101 and 102). Directors Kogonada (episodes 103 and 107), Alex Garcia Lopez (episodes 104 and 105), and Hanelle Culpepper (episodes 106 and 108) round out the directing duties on the series. Michael Abels, known for his work on Get Out and Us, scored The Acolyte.
