OC Testing

For our OC testing, we have configured our CPU to run 4100MHz on all cores and set the voltage to 1.3875V. This yields an approximate power at the wall of 255w under load (a 197w differential from idle, which pulls about 58w). This results in the CPU running at 4.1GHz on all cores during the looping rounds of Cinebench R20.

Max Fans

CORSAIR A115 overclocking temperature testing at max rpm

Running our HSFs at full tilt leads to the CORSAIR A115 posting a temperature of 66.5 degrees Celsius which is just ahead of the MasterAir 824 at 67 degrees Celsius. In third place we found the IceSLEET G6 Stealth at 71 degrees and the Dark Rock Pro 4 brought up the rear at 78 degrees Celsius.

We noted that the max fan speed on the CORSAIR A115 topped out at 1600 RPM, the MasterAir 824 topped out at 1900/1550 RPM, the IceSLEET G6 Stealth topped out at 1450 RPM and the Dark Rock Pro 4 at 1300/1500 RPM.

At the 1500 RPM fan speed, the CORSAIR A115 maintained its lead by about a single degree Celsius at 66.63 degrees compared to the MasterAir MA824’s 67.75 degree result. The IceSLEET G6 Stealth slipped back a bit to 71 degrees Celsius and the Dark Rock Pro 4’s temperature remained the same as it was still running at maximum fan speeds.

1000 RPM Fans

At the 1000 RPM fan speed, the CORSAIR A115 found itself at 70.13 degrees Celsius which was about two ahead of the Master Air MA824 and 6 ahead of the IceSLEET G6 Stealth. The Dark Rock Pro 4 picked up the rear at 82.5 degrees Celsius.

Now that we have seen how all of our units cool, lets see if we can still hear!

SUMMARY

The CORSAIR A115 is the best performing CPU Air Cooler that we've looked at so far as it put a significant beating upon each of the comparisons we put it up against. It was a moderate sound performer by not being obnoxious but also not exactly being stealth. Ultimately, if you're going for performance at a reasonable sound level without RGB bling, the CORSAIR A115 is the way.
