As you’ve probably noticed since there are more of these posts going up across the internets than there are reviews of the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, we also do not have one to share with you. Videocardz has their typical round up posted with just a handful of sites if you’d like to go take a look at who the sorting hat favored this time around.

For sites that have put up statements about not getting a sample, you can check out their musings as follows:

TechPowerUp believes that AMD was review shopping for outlets that would give them favorable coverage knowing that more in depth testing may result in a collective yawn from reviewing pundits. They also indicated the usual retail backchannels that have been used in the past were also not available due to strict AMD instructions.

From looking around, this seems consistent with a launch that AMD doesn’t want a ton of press on. We’ve seen this previously with the XT series chips (e.g. 3800XT) where it was a simple clock bump and nothing super exciting to write home about. I believe those chips were also fairly limited in volume as the 5000 series was coming soon.

Oh wait – what else could be coming soon? Zen 6, of course. With benchmark numbers starting to leak on to scoreboards and an expected launch of “as soon as Computex” this year (a month from now) and maybe as late as CES next year (8 months from now), the 9950X3D2 may not be long in this world.

Back to the matter at hand, no launch snubbing can be complete without GamersNexus pulling out the jumping to conclusions mat and placing themselves on a blacklist:

Of course, there’s disagreement – JayzTwoCents offered a penny for his thoughts saying it was probably not a blacklist operation as GN suspected:

Anyhow, let’s round this out with a CPU specification comparison table and jump in the forums for some discussion.
