Microsoft announced the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, a commemorative hardware release timed to the 25th anniversary of the Xbox platform. The console is scheduled for November 2026, placing it squarely in the holiday window alongside the broader Xbox Games Showcase narrative of renewed hardware and software investment.

Details on the X25’s design and any internal changes beyond standard Series X specifications have not been confirmed, denied or rumored. Limited edition Xbox consoles have historically been cosmetic differentiators rather than spec upgrades, but given the proximity to the Xbox exclusivity announcements at the Showcase, this release carries some marketing weight beyond standard collector hardware.

Xbox launched in November 2001, and the platform has had a complicated two decades: strong starts with Xbox 360, stumbles with Xbox One, and a recovery with Series X/S that has been complicated by the multiplatform strategy debate that dominated the Xbox Games Showcase conversation this weekend. A 25th anniversary limited edition arriving the same holiday season as Gears of War: E-Day, a confirmed Xbox console exclusive, is not an accident.
