NVIDIA dropped a hotfix driver today, and if your GeForce RTX 50-series card has been causing trouble in Halo: Campaign Evolved or locking up Path of Exile 2 after long sessions, this is the one to install.
GeForce Hotfix Display Driver 610.82 was released this morning, built on the July 7 Game Ready 610.74 WHQL base. The fix list is short and deliberately targeted. First: stability crashes affecting GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs specifically when using the 610.xx driver branch in Halo: Campaign Evolved. Second: the intermittent long pauses that would occur in Path of Exile 2 after extended DirectX 12 gameplay sessions. Both were confirmed by NVIDIA Customer Care on X alongside the release.
The hotfix is an optional download from NVIDIA’s support portal. Like all hotfix releases, it is not WHQL certified and is delivered outside the standard driver schedule. Any fixes included will be incorporated into the next official Game Ready or Studio driver. Users not affected by either issue can wait for that official release; users experiencing Halo: Campaign Evolved instability or PoE2 DX12 freezes should install it now.
One thing hotfix 610.82 does not fix: the reported crashes affecting GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs on Battlefield 6 Season 4 maps with large bodies of water, which went live with the Pacific Front launch. EA has confirmed that issue separately and continues to recommend rolling back to driver 596.49 for Battlefield 6 players experiencing repeated crashes. Both the EA and NVIDIA teams are working on it; 610.82 is not the answer for that problem.
For Halo: Campaign Evolved specifically: the game launches on PC July 28, five days from now. RTX 50-series owners planning a day-one install should apply this hotfix before launch. The stability fix directly targets issues introduced on the 610.xx branch in this title, which means running 610.74 to launch day without the fix is a known risk. 610.82 closes it.
For Path of Exile 2: the DX12 freeze issue has been reported consistently since at least early July. It manifests as a hard pause during extended sessions, which is particularly frustrating in endgame content where session length is measured in hours. The fix is confirmed in today’s release notes.
