Four Hundred Dollars Gets You the Grand Theft Auto VI Collector’s Box Which Doesn’t Include the Game

Rockstar Games has announced an extravagant collector’s box for GTA VI fans, but surprisingly, its $399.99 price tag still isn’t enough to cover the cost of getting the game with it. Everyone knows that merchandising is the name of the game when it comes to the next pot of gold for a big IP; just take a look at Star Wars, which has reportedly generated upwards of $42 billion since 1977 and can average between $1B and over $3B annually (according to Guinness World Records). Rockstar Games may not aim for family friendly demographs but it still knows there’s big potential for marketing merchandise for its upcoming game and went all out with the Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection.

Hardcore fans will assuredly pony up the four Benjamins, and likely a Jackson for shipping($420-surely just a coincidence) to get the Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, and perhaps, assuming humanity survives for another half century or so, these may actually increase in value. Meanwhile, once again, family members and loved ones are likely to cringe at yet another temptation for cash-strapped fans considering their next big purchase. The good news here is that after getting it, one could always make good use of the shot glass to knock one back and then look into the electroplated pink glass mirror to reflect on one’s life choices.
