The first gameplay footage for Borderlands 4, the latest entry in what publisher 2K has described as the definitive looter-shooter franchise, will premiere as part of a new trailer for the game that will air during The Game Awards this Thursday, on December 12. Randy Pitchford, CEO and president of The Gearbox Entertainment Company, shared the news in a tweet to his followers today, noting that the trailer will, in addition to gameplay, include a “sick” and “never-before-seen” cinematic that takes place between Borderlands 3 and Borderlands 4. 2K and Gearbox Software officially announced Borderlands 4 in August, confirming that the game will will launch in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Borderlands 4 is the fourth mainline title and seventh overall entry in the franchise. Players will once again assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they search for secret alien treasure while blasting everything in sight.
