The latest Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Update adds an incredulous amount of fixes, balancing changes, and QoL improvements. Developer fatshark has gone all out with its Nightmares and Visions update adding a new time-limited in-game event called the Mortis Trials where players will need to survive waves of attacks at the Theatres of Mortification. The event started yesterday and rewards include Ordo dockets and Diamantine with those completing the last challenge receiving a cosmetic insignia.

Rank overhaul and Havoc updates:

Chart: fatshark
  • A gap greater than or equal to 10 gives an increase of (3) Clearance Levels.
  • A gap between 6 and 9 gives an increase of (2) Clearance Levels.
  • A gap of less than or equal to 5 gives an increase of (1) Clearance Levels.

One of the more major changes happening is a rank overhaul to Havoc. The chart above details the changes and the developers have noted that all players who have engaged in the mission can rank up to three spots based on their eligibility. Havoc is also receiving new campaign missions as well and they are: Enclavum Baross, Clandestium Gloriana, Dark Communion, Vigil Station Oblivium, Hab Dreyko, Power Matrix HL-17-36, Magistrati Oubliette TM8-707, Ascension Riser 31, Relay Station TRS-150, and Comms-Plex 154/2f.

QoL Updates:

The Nightmares and Visions update brings DLSS4 to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Owners of GeForce RTX 40 or 50 series GPUs can enjoy lower VRAM usage and choose between CNN or the new Transformer model while the latter can employ up to three times FPS with multiframe generation. The devs gave a shout out to Badwindt (over at nexusmods.com) for their mod which inspired a change that now prevents party finder popups from blocking gameplay view.

There are far too many details for this update to list here, as the developers jokingly mention it’s only “50 pages.” Those interested in what other changes have been made can find them in the patch notes here. Hats off to the developers for so much hard work on such an extensive update which is being released across all platforms.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
