Remedy Entertainment has added support for AMD’s latest upscaling technology, aka FSR “Redstone”, to Alan Wake 2, which also includes FSR frame generation. Alan Wake 2 is one of around a dozen titles from different developers that often launch with or receive support for the latest graphical technologies from NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. From ray tracing effects to upscaling technologies and frame generation, these features are often at the forefront of ongoing development for both game developers and GPU manufacturers.
Users of supported GPUs, which by design now include older Radeon RX 7000 series, will automatically have FSR 4 enabled when FSR Super Resolution has been chosen, and in addition, FSR Frame Generation then also becomes a clickable option. Another added PC-specific improvement is support for the Agility SDK, which now allows Shader Execution reordering across different brands of GPUs. Update 1.2 rolled out for PC and consoles yesterday, offering the following feature improvements.
Patch 1.2 Notes:
PlayStation 5 (1.200.009)
Xbox Series (1.2.0.10)
PC (1.2.10)

- [PC] Added support for FSR 4. FSR 4 is automatically enabled on supported GPUs when FSR Super Resolution is selected.
- [PC] Added support for FSR Frame Generation. The option is available in the graphics settings on supported GPUs.
- [PC] Opacity Micromaps and Shader Execution Reordering now use the Agility SDK, allowing support across multiple GPU vendors.

Remedy Entertainment was also recently in the news when IGN posted a 13-minute gameplay video for its next entry in its Alan Wake/Control shared universe, Control Resonant. The next game, like the first and Alan Wake 2, will likely feature similar AMD FSR 4 and DLSS 4 support. Control Resonant is expected to launch by the end of this year.
