New Rogue and Sorcerer Class Teaser Trailers Released for Diablo IV

Blizzard has released two 40-second teaser trailers for the Rogue and Sorcerer class characters in Diablo IV ahead of its official June 6 release. Each provide brief glimpses of in game footage showcasing the abilities for both classes with the Rogue and its "strike from the shadows" tagline, and the Sorcerer's ability to control the elements. The two new Rogue and Sorcerer class trailers join the previously released cinematic trailer for the Necromancer leaving only the Druid and Barbarian classes without their own promotional videos (besides the 14-second clips on the Diablo IV website) but Blizzard is likely staging releases for these in the coming weeks. All together there will only be five playable classes for Diablo IV. Blizzard recently confirmed that pre-orders for the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions will gain early access to the game on June 1 (U.S.) and June 2 (Europe/Asia). For those still wondering, there has not been any recent updates regarding the claims about the beta version of the game bricking NVIDIA RTX 30 series GPUs but in reading through the forums, claims have expanded to include several different RTX 20 series cards. Hopefully Blizzard will have resolved any such issues before the game releases in June.

Over 30 Games Are Leaving PS Plus Next Month, including Marvel’s Spider-Man, Resident Evil, and NBA 2K Playgrounds 2

Sony has announced its PlayStation Plus Game Catalog lineup for April, and while there's some exciting titles in there, including DOOM Eternal and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, over two dozen games will be leaving the PS Plus Game Catalog in May as part of what team PlayStation has described as a "normal content refresh." Marvel’s Spider-Man, Resident Evil, and NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 are three of the games that are mentioned at the end of a blog post from Adam Michel, Director, Content Acquisition & Operations, SIE, and while he didn't bother listing any more, a full list of titles can confirm that over 30 games are set to be removed. PlayStation fans are surprised at the loss of Marvel's Spider-Man, as that's a first-party title, having been developed by Insomniac Games.

VLC Media Player Adds NVIDIA RTX Video Super Resolution

VideoLAN has launched a new version of the VLC media player that includes support for RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR), NVIDIA's new technology for upscaling lower-quality video with the help of AI and a deep learning network. VLC 3.0.19 RTX Vetinari is a special version of the "Vetinari" branch of the popular media player with RTX upscaling, VideoLAN has confirmed, and according to the change log, this version of VLC activates VSR upscaling by default on NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs that support the feature (i.e., GeForce RTX 30 and 40 Series). Some users claim that NVIDIA VSR is capable of upscaling video just as well as madVR, the hugely popular video renderer from madshi that allows users to choose from various high-quality upscalers, including the GPU-intensive NGU models, but based on some of the comparisons that have been shared online (1, 2), reception of the results are sure to vary from user to user.

Final Fantasy XVI State of Play Reveals Nearly 25 Minutes of 4K Gameplay Footage, Showcasing Real-Time Combat, Character Interactions, Eikon Battles, and More

State of Play has debuted nearly 25 minutes of all-new gameplay footage for Final Fantasy XVI ahead of the game's release for PlayStation 5 consoles this summer. The 4K footage reveals a host of new features and details about the upcoming RPG, which seems largely inspired by Game of Thrones, including frenetic, real-time combat; a hideout where players can craft items and train before going into battle; and, perhaps most excitingly, massive battles with Eikon, powerful and deadly creatures that reside in FFXVI's main setting of Valisthea. Producer Naoki Yoshida, who hosted the video, mentioned that popular singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu will perform the game's theme song, "Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing," and while Square Enix still hasn't teased a PC release, PS5 owners can begin playing the game on June 22, 2023.

Microsoft Leak Teases “Windows Handheld Mode” Optimized for Steam Deck and Similar Devices

Microsoft employees have been experimenting with a Windows handheld mode that would make the operating system easier to use on the Steam Deck and other handheld gaming devices, according to a set of videos that WalkingCat has leaked. The videos, which originate from one of Microsoft's hackathon events from September, provide an early look at some of the improvements that the handheld mode might feature in the event that it actually releases, such as UI optimizations, improved controller support, a game launcher, and a controller-navigated and touch-optimized keyboard. The ROG Ally, ASUS' upcoming gaming handheld, runs on Windows 11.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Delayed to February 2, 2024

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been delayed and will not release until February 2, 2024, Rocksteady Studios has confirmed. The delay isn't too surprising, as sources told Bloomberg in early March about how Warner Bros. Games would be delaying Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League so Rocksteady could give the game, which is based on one of DC's most popular superhero teams, more polish. Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League's core gameplay will remain largely the same despite the controversy that Rocksteady and Warner Bros. Games received after a leak revealed the game would lean toward the GaaS (games as a service) model, according to the report.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Drops to $469 as NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Hits Retailers for $599

Custom AMD Radeon RX 6800 graphics cards are now available for as low as $469.99, according to current retailer listings that include those from Newegg. The cheapest are the ASRock Radeon RX 6800 Phantom Gaming D and GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6800 GAMING OC 16G, which have been listed for $484.99 and $469.99 at Newegg, respectively, and while it's unclear how long these discounts might last, the reduced pricing was presumably prompted by the release of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4070, which costs $599 but appears to perform quite similarly to the Radeon RX 6800 in a number of cases. AMD's own benchmarks would suggest that the Radeon RX 6800 can reach up to 79 FPS in games at 4K, but an upgrade in the form of the Radeon RX 7800 with RDNA 3 remains oddly missing. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 released at an SEP of $579 in November 2020, according to a press release.
