GIGABYTE Stirs Zen 5 and Ryzen 8000 Series Speculation: “Next Generation of AMD Ryzen Desktop CPUs Will Come Out Later This Year”

AMD is planning to release a new generation of Ryzen desktop processors, and while that isn't much of a surprise in itself, it could be happening sooner than many might have expected. Giga Computing, a subsidiary of GIGABYTE and an industry leader in high-performance servers, server motherboards, and workstations, shared a press release discussing its new servers for AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors yesterday, and within it comes the claim that the "next generation" of AMD Ryzen desktop processors are scheduled for release later this year. GIGABYTE didn't provide any clarification as to what these chips might actually be, but that hasn't stopped AMD fans from hoping that it might be Zen 5 and the Ryzen 8000 Series—according to a desktop roadmap that AMD had previously released, Zen 5 is expected to drop by 2024.

Resident Evil 4’s Free Mercenaries DLC Dated for April 7, 2023, as Remake of Survival Horror Classic Sets a New Record on Steam

The Resident Evil 4 remake arrived today on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and while some gamers may be close to beating the remake of the survival horror classic already, Capcom has confirmed that more content is just around the corner. The Mercenaries challenge mode will added to Resident Evil 4 as part of a free post-launch DLC that is set for release on April 7, 2023, according to a press release that Capcom shared today, and while the publisher couldn't confirm how closely the new version of the arcade mini-game might match the original, it did note that Resident Evil 4's VR Mode is also in development and is scheduled for release at a later date, also as free DLC. Complementing the news is Resident Evil 4's impressive launch on Steam, having set a new franchise record with 140,240 peak concurrent players. (Resident Evil Village managed an all-time player peak of 106,631, while the Resident Evil 2 remake managed an all-time player peak of 74,227.)

Google’s Bard AI Chatbot Admits to Being Caught Plagiarizing Review Data from Tom’s Hardware and Then Denies It

Google’s Bard AI chatbot has been caught plagiarizing a CPU review from Tom's Hardware and it doesn't seem happy about it. A journalist at the tech news website asked Bard, "which of two competing processors — the Intel Core i9-13900K or AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D — was faster," and that's when things took an interesting turn. It appears that the AI essentially scrapes the internet for data in order to answer questions. The problem is that it doesn't necessarily cite its sources when doing so, that is unless the user presses the AI to provide them.

Elden Ring Update 1.09 Adds Ray Tracing on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X

Elden Ring already benefits from what fans have described as gorgeous visuals and art direction, but now, the critically acclaimed and best-selling fantasy RPG from FromSoftware should look even better thanks to a new update that Bandai Namco began rolling out today. Available now, update 1.09 adds ray tracing support to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC versions of Elden Ring, and while the developers have warned that the feature may have an impact on performance, those who want to see The Lands Between with the latest effects can activate the new ray tracing option through the game's settings menu. An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (8 GB) and AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT (16 GB) have been listed under Elden Ring's recommended ray tracing technical specifications.

Diablo IV Players Claim Blizzard’s New Game Is Bricking NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Cards: “RIP my RTX 3080 Ti”

Demons and monsters may not be the only things that Diablo IV players are inadvertently killing. In a scenario that seems reminiscent of the GPU drama that surrounded Amazon's MMORPG, New World, a growing number of Diablo IV players are taking to social media and other online channels to complain about how Blizzard's new game is crashing, or, worse, bricking, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards. Some of the vendors that have been named include GIGABYTE and EVGA, and while many have suggested that this is strictly a hardware issue and that the developer isn't to blame, Blizzard has confirmed that it is investigating reports of the GPU issues, which appear to be increasing. Diablo IV is currently available to play as part of an early beta phase, while its open beta will run from March 24 to 26.

Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Will Be Removed from Digital Storefronts on April 28, 2023

Valve Announces Counter-Strike 2: “Largest Technical Leap Forward in Counter-Strike’s History”

Counter-Strike may be a huge name in the world of competitive shooters, but Gabe appears to have decided that Valve's marketing dollars should be used elsewhere. In a series of 4K videos posted to its official YouTube channel today, Valve confirmed, albeit quietly, that it has been developing Counter-Strike 2, an official sequel to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the fourth installment of the tactical FPS series that originally launched over a decade ago. Counter-Strike 2 is scheduled to release this summer ahead of a limited test that begins today, and according to one of the videos, players can expect a much more responsive experience thanks to improvements that include a sub-tick update architecture.

Ubisoft Adopts AI Tool for Writing Game Dialogue

Ubisoft fans who find the dialog to be a little dry and/or unnatural in the next Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, or Watch Dogs game may have something more to blame than just their writers. In a new article, Ubisoft revealed that it is adopting Ghostwriter, a new, in-house AI tool developed by Ben Swanson (R&D Scientist at La Forge Montreal) that makes it easier for developers to generate dialogue for games. Ubisoft clarified that the tool will only be used for certain types of dialogue, and that writers will continue to wield "a degree of creative control."

Halo Infinite Season 3 Update Renders the Game Unplayable on PCs with Graphics Cards with Less than 4 GB of Memory

It has been discovered that the Halo Infinite Season 3 update, which was rolled out a couple of weeks ago, has a new VRAM limit and some users with older NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics cards are no longer able to launch the game. The original version of the GTX 1060, launched nearly 7 years ago, featured 3 GB of memory and subsequent versions had 5 GB (China only) and then 6 GB which included an upgrade to GDDR5X with its final version that was launched in October 2018. The irony is that NVIDIA had released the less powerful 1050 Ti with 4 GB of memory before it and those users are still able to play the game.
