The situation surrounding The Last of Us Part II and Iron Man VR, both of which had recently been delayed indefinitely, has gone from bad to worse. According to a message on Sony’s official support page, pre-purchases for these titles are being automatically refunded.

The Last of Us Part II and Iron Man VR have been delayed,” the notice reads. “All digital pre-order consumers will automatically receive a refund. Please check your email for more details.”

It’s unclear why Sony decided to do this, since both games will be released eventually. Also, both games have reportedly been removed from the PlayStation Store entirely, which is especially ominous – is it crazy to think that one (or both) of these games could be turned into PS5 titles?

In a statement published earlier this month, Naughty Dog explained that The Last of Us Part II had to be delayed (again) due to logistic issues. “However, even with us finishing the game, we were faced with the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we couldn’t launch The Last of Us Part II to our satisfaction,” the company wrote. “We want to make sure everyone gets to play The Last of Us Part II around the same time, ensuring that we’re doing everything possible to preserve the best experience for everyone.”
