Phanteks AMP 750

Phanteks is a relatively new company best known for its high-quality cases and cooling products. However, their product lines extend into other components such as power supplies (of various model lines that range from 550W to 1200W in DC output), speakers, and accessories. Phanteks has built up this impressive product repertoire since its founding in 2007. For this review, we are looking at the AMP 750T (model number PH-P750G) which is one of Phantek’s more mainstream products. It is produced in conjunction with Seasonic.

Seasonic is one of the older companies producing consumer power supplies having been founded in 1975 and entering the PC power supply production market in 1980. Seasonic is the OEM and ODM of this unit. During that more than 30 years as a company, Seasonic has cultivated lines of power supplies that are today some of the standard-bearers for efficiency and quiet computing. This focus, and its reputation for quality, has lead to an explosion in production as Seasonic can be found providing OEM services on various model lines for Antec, XFX, Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, and of course under its own Seasonic brand.

Phantek AMP 750 power supply series product brief

AMPed To The Max?

The Phanteks AMP 750 is the first power supply we have seen from Phanteks here at TheFPSReview. This particular unit is probably going to be a bit more interesting for more people than the most recent SilverStone SFX unit we reviewed (SX700-PT) as this is a more mainstream product in both form factor and model/price range. As this product is coming to us from what is Phanteks mainstream product line, we have both fairly high expectations when it comes to performance and value. However, before we get to far ahead of ourselves, let’s first see what Phanteks has to say about this unit:

In collaboration with Seasonic, Phanteks AMP Series are high quality 80PLUS Gold Certified power supplies. The fully modular power supplies provide users with clean and great cable management with all-black sleeved and flat ribbon cables. The 120mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing Fan can be temperature controlled in Hybrid Fanless mode for ultimate silent performance. Phanteks AMP power supplies are certified to ensure 100% compatibility with the Revolt PRO PSUs.

Let’s move on now and see what we can expect when a user purchases the Phanteks AMP 750 power supply in retail in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
