LN2 is usually reserved for hardcore enthusiasts, but for those who are seeking new challenges, it can help set new records and clarify performance ceilings. We’ve been seeing some pretty amazing overclocks for the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT already, and now, someone has managed to set a world record with one.

This record was done using a reference card paired with the brand-new AMD Ryzen 9 5950X processor. What do you get when you pair the current king of gaming CPUs with the Radeon RX 6800 XT? A blistering 2.8 GHz, that’s what. As reported by Wccftech, Takakou shared this impressive feat on HWBot. He’s posted 3DMark scores and screens from CPU-Z and GPU-Z with details for this premium gaming rig.

As high as this overclock is, PowerColor’s Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT gets reasonably close. It was only a couple of days ago that we reported on its boost clock hitting 2,650 MHz, and on air, no less. The Radeon RX 6800 XT is definitely a speed demon.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
