1080p Ray Tracing RTX 3060 Ti FE Performance
On this page, we are now going to enable Ray Tracing in the games that support it, and run it at 1080p with the highest in-game settings. Therefore, this is the same 1080p settings we used previously, just now with Ray Tracing turned on at the highest quality setting. In this way, we can see if Ray Tracing is playable at 1080p on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition and how it compares to the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE and GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
Watch Dogs Legion
In Watch Dogs Legion we have enabled the “Ultra” Ray Tracing quality option at 1080p with the “Ultra” quality preset. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE moves down to 52FPS average. This is on the borderline of being playable because of the minimum framerates. The minimum framerates while playing can dive into the ’30s. This game is quite demanding, so this is understandable, but you may want to lower the quality setting by one notch to make Ray Tracing truly playable at 1080p on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE. The other option is that you can enable “Quality” DLSS at 1080p and also make the game playable with “Ultra” Ray Tracing enabled. The image quality still looks great, and you don’t have to lower any game settings that way.
Compared to the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE is actually 11% faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE. Compared to the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE is 49% faster. This shows how much better at Ray Tracing performance the new $399 GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE is compared to the previous generation $399 GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
Control
In Control performance is much better on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE with the “High” Ray Tracing enabled at 1080p. Control uses several different Ray Tracing techniques at once, so this is impressive. It averages 71FPS and that’s 15% faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE, which is the highest so far. The gameplay is very smooth and this is more than doable. Compared to the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE the RTX 3060 Ti FE is 47% faster.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
Wolfenstein Youngblood is very playable with Ray Tracing enabled at 1080p with the highest in-game settings. It’s 161FPS on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE which is 13% faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE and 50% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE. The RTX 3060 Ti FE is so much better at Ray Tracing.
Metro Exodus
We know Metro Exodus is very demanding even without Ray Tracing. Enabling “Ultra” Ray Tracing at 1080p on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE isn’t too shabby though. At 51FPS it’s on the border of being playable, same as Watch Dogs, it can drop into the ’30s while gaming. However, turning on DLSS at 1080p or dropping the quality option by one level would fix that. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE is 43% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider turning on “Ultra,” Ray Tracing is very playable at 1080p on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE. At 70FPS it’s faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE and 46% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
