1440p Ray Tracing DLSS RTX 3060 Ti FE Performance
On this page we are going to bump up the resolution to 1440p and also keep Ray Tracing turned on now in the games that support it. However, because none of the games (save for Wolfenstein Youngblood) were actually playable at 1440p with Ray Tracing turned on as well, we decided to also turn on DLSS so we can test its impact on performance with Ray Tracing. By turning on DLSS we get a performance bump, and that may be enough to make Ray Tracing playable at 1440p on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition, so let’s see.
Watch Dogs Legion
In Watch Dogs Legion above we are running at 1440p with the highest “Ultra” quality preset as well as the highest “Ultra” Ray Tracing. Now, without DLSS the performance was 35FPS in this benchmark on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition. However, by also turning on “Quality” DLSS the performance now rose up to 54FPS and the game was playable! DLSS made a huge impact here and allows us to play the game with Ray Tracing on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE at 1440p.
This performance is 10% faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE and 50% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
Control
In Control we tried running the game at 1440p and High Ray Tracing and got a result of 45.6FPS which was not playable on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE. However, after enabling DLSS in the game the performance rose up to an incredible 78FPS as you can see in the above graph. That means the game is now playable at 1440p with Ray Tracing and DLSS on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE.
This is 12% faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE and 45% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
In this graph we wanted to show Wolfenstein Youngblood without DLSS because it is playable with Ray Tracing enabled at 1440p on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE without the need for DLSS. You can see we get 104FPS so it is more than playable. DLSS isn’t even needed to make Ray Tracing playable here. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE is 11% faster than the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FE and 53% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
Though Wolfenstein Youngblood doesn’t need DLSS, we went ahead and enabled it at 1440p with Ray Tracing enabled also for the comparison. It’s 11% faster than the RTX 2080 SUPER FE and 45% faster than the RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
Metro Exodus
Metro Exodus is very demanding at 1440p with Ray Tracing enabled. Without DLSS performance was 38.3FPS on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE. When enabling DLSS the performance rose up to 45FPS, but even that wasn’t really playable. This game will need to be lowered to a lower quality setting to be playable even with DLSS enabled at 1440p with Ultra Ray Tracing on the RTX 3060 Ti FE. Performance is 41% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, this game was not playable with just Ray Tracing turned on at 1440p, it was at 46FPS on the RTX 3060 Ti FE. However, when we enabled DLSS performance shoots up to 73FPS as you can see, and is now very playable. It’s 35% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER FE.
