We shared a story on Sunday suggesting that Sony was about to pull the plug on multiple PlayStation 4 models. Japan’s Game Watch publication has now confirmed that various PS4 SKUs are being discontinued in the Land of the Rising Sun, which include both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro units.

“Most of the PS4 Slim (CUH-2000 series) and all PS4 Pro (CUH-7000 series) models have been discontinued this time,” Game Watch reported. “The PS4 (CUH-1000 series) that adopted the initial design has already been discontinued.”

“In addition, the white (Glacial White) model, which is popular in both the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro series, and the large-capacity 1TB model will disappear as long as they are in stock,” the publication added.

The only model that will remain in production is the standard PS4 Slim Jet Black 500 GB SKU, but it isn’t clear how long Sony intends to continue manufacturing it. The company is obviously shifting all of its efforts over to the PlayStation 5, which is selling like hot cakes and continues to break sales records.
