Power and Temperature

Power

All wattage was taken at the wall for total system Wattage using a Kill-a-watt.

The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 VISION OC 8G sipped power in comparison to the other cards at 411W at the wall. Overclocking the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 VISION OC 8G added a mere 7W to its total draw. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 was a watt higher at 424W with the ASUS ROG STRIX 2080 Ti jumping ahead to 509W of power.

Temperature

Ambient room temperature at the time of testing was 22 degrees Celsius.

From what we can tell, the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 VISION OC 8G’s default fan curve is set to maintain 65 degrees Celsius. It maintained that with the fans running but not audible without an issue. That was cooler than the AMD Radeon RX 6800 that leveled out at 70 degrees Celsius but warmer than the ASUS ROG STRIX 2080 Ti at 57 degrees Celsius. With the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 VISION OC 8G maxed out on both core clock and fans, it dropped to 59 degrees Celsius.

For comparison, the GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition ran at 76c. Therefore the cooling on the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 VISION OC 8G improves upon the Founder’s Edition temperature by a great deal at 65c. That’s a huge difference with this custom video card.
