Gameplay Performance Continued
We will be testing at 1440p with the highest in-game graphics settings. “SAM ON” means Smart Access Memory is enabled. The OVERCLOCKED AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT card is running at an “Up To” GPU frequency of 2800MHz and a memory frequency of 17.2GHz.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn we enable the “Ultimate Quality” graphics option. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing.
Overclocking the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT in Horizon Zero Dawn only improved performance by 3%. This is another game, like Watch Dogs that didn’t yield a huge difference overclocking. The overclock puts performance just over the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti now, where before it was under. However, the GeForce RTX 3070 is still well ahead by 7%. Comparing the overclock with the Radeon RX 5700 XT the increase is 31%.
Red Dead Redemption 2
In Red Dead Redemption 2 we run the game in the Vulkan API. We set all the in-game options up to “Ultra” or the highest value, except for MSAA. We use the built-in benchmark for testing.
Overclocking the Radeon RX 6700 XT in Red Dead Redemption 2 improved performance by 7%. That’s the highest advantage so far. It puts the performance equal to and on par with GeForce RTX 3070 performance at 1440p. Comparing the overclock with the Radeon RX 5700 XT the increase is 49%, which is quite large of a difference.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint
In Ghost Recon Breakpoint we run the game in the Vulkan API. We set the graphics options in the game to “Ultimate” textures and “Ultimate” graphics settings and set resolution as needed. We use the built-in benchmark for testing.
Overclocking the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT in Ghost Recon Breakpoint improved performance by just 5%. The performance is still under the GeForce RTX 3070 which was 4% faster. Comparing the overclock with the Radeon RX 5700 XT performance improved 34%.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
In Wolfenstein Youngblood the game runs in the Vulkan API. We set the graphics option to “Mein Leben!” for the highest settings. When not using DLSS the NVIDIA Adaptive Shading option is on Quality. We leave the rest of the settings at default. We use the built-in benchmark of Riverside for testing.
Overclocking the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT in Wolfenstein Youngblood actually yielded a big increase of 7%. The framerate went from 169FPS to 180FPS. Before the overclock performance was under the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti in this game, but with the overclock it’s now just as fast as the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. The GeForce RTX 3070 is still on top though and by quite a bit 17%. Comparing the overclock with the Radeon RX 5700 XT the increase is 42%.
