A standalone, single-player expansion to Sucker Punch’s PlayStation 4 samurai epic, Ghost of Tsushima, is reportedly in development. According to XboxERA co-founder Shpeshal_Nick, the expansion is called Ghost of Ikishima and will be similar in vein to Insomniac’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Lost Legacy expansions. Shpeshal_Nick hasn’t clarified which platforms Ghost of Ikishima will be released on, but it is believed to be a cross-gen title based on Sony’s strategy of bringing upcoming hits such as God of War: Ragnarok (the name of which is unconfirmed) and Horizon Forbidden West to both PS4 and PS5.

The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan—until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But honorable tactics won’t lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting—the way of the Ghost—as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan.
