4K Gameplay Performance

Now we are going to look at 4K performance on this page. We will look at Ray Tracing on the next page. We do have DLSS and FSR applied where appropriate.

AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Video Card Metro Exodus Enhanced 4K Graph

At 4K in Metro Exodus Enhanced, the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is not playable. It would be required to turn down the Shading Quality option quite a bit to make it playable. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is also not playable until you turn on DLSS, then it does become playable without having to turn down the Shading Quality. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is 53% faster than the Radeon RX 6900 XT without DLSS, and with DLSS it is 135% faster. The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is 6% faster than the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT.

In Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K and “Ultra” settings (no Ray Tracing) the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is really not playable at this level of performance. It would be required to have to turn down the game to “High” settings or lower to make it playable at 4K. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is also not playable at ultra settings, however, it has DLSS, and that does make it very playable above 60FPS. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is 11% faster than the RX 6900 XT without DLSS, but with DLSS it is 74% faster. The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is 6% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT.

In Godfall the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT at 4K and the highest “Epic” settings is very playable and provides over 60FPS gameplay. This is a great experience. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is technically faster by 12%. The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is only 3% faster than the RX 6800 XT at 4K in this game.

Dirt 5 is very playable on the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT at 4K and the highest settings. It’s providing 90+ FPS while gaming, and so does the GIGABYTE RTX 3090. Both provide a similar gaming experience in this game at 4K. The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is 9% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT in this game at 4K.

Unlike 1440p, at 4K the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT falls slightly behind the GIGABYTE RTX 3090 in Watch Dogs Legion at 4K. However, that said, the game is still very playable on the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT at 4K in this game at “Ultra” settings. It’s about 5% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT.

Once again at 4K, we see that disparity between GeForce and Radeon cards in this game. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is 28% faster than the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT. However, the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is still playable. This game plays well at lower framerates, and so 44FPS down to 30 is actually still very playable here. Therefore the Radeon RX 6900 XT offers a good gaming experience at 4K. It’s 8% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT.

In Horizon Zero Dawn at 4K the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is more than playable offering 80FPS. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is technically faster by 14%, but both have a similar gameplay experience at 4K. The RX 6900 XT is 5% faster than the RX 6800 XT.

Red Dead Redemption 2 at 4K and “Ultra” settings is very intense, but the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT pulls it off. It allows a playable gameplay experience at 4K and the highest in-game settings. It’s certainly faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT, by 8%. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is faster by 8%. Tack on DLSS to the RTX 3090 and performance is much higher, by 32%.

Wolfenstein Youngblood at 4K is very playable on the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT at the highest settings, providing well over 100FPS. It’s 8% faster than the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT. The GIGABYTE RTX 3090 is 19% faster than the Radeon RX 6900 XT.
