Gameplay Performance Continued

We are going to focus on 1440p gameplay performance with the MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X 8G video card. We will test Ray Tracing and DLSS in the games that support it, and show it on the graphs under each relevant game. For video card comparison we are using an AMD Radeon RX 6800 which has an MSRP of $579 and is the closest competition by MSRP to the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti at $599 MSRP.

In Watch Dogs Legion at 144op with “Ultra” settings the AMD Radeon RX 6800 and MSI RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X are equally playable. They both averaged 77FPS, and that’s well above 60FPS and very playable in this game. Overclocking the MSI RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X improves performance by 8% up to 83FPS.

MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X 8G Watch Dogs Legion Ray Tracing DLSS Graph

In the graph above we have turned on Ultra Ray Tracing, and this brought performance down to unplayable levels across the board. However, what is interesting is that the AMD Radeon RX 6800 is actually faster than the MSI RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X with Ray Tracing turned on, 10% faster to be exact. This is much different than we would expect with Ray Tracing turned on. Still, the game is unplayable on both of them at these settings.

With the MSI RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X we can enable DLSS in this game. Turning on DLSS brings performance up to 60FPS which is a lot better. Overclocking helps, even more, it improves performance by 10% and brings performance up to 66FPS making the game even more enjoyable. That means we can enjoy Ultra Ray Tracing on the MSI RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X in this game with DLSS enabled. With the Radeon RX 6800, the only option is to keep Ray Tracing off.
