AIDA64 Memory Bandwidth and Cache Performance
We are now going to utilize AIDA64’s Cache & Memory Benchmark to look at memory bandwidth as well as memory and L1, L2, and L3 cache latencies.
Memory Read
This is where DDR5 can show off its massive bandwidth advantage. In memory read performance DDR4 is at 56GB/s but DDR5 at 5200 is at 76GB/s, that’s a 35% improvement in memory bandwidth!
Memory Write
The same is true in memory write performance but to a slightly lesser degree. We move from 56GB/s of DDR4 to 73GB/s with DDR5, an increase of 30%.
Memory Copy
Memory copy performance has also increased from 52GB/s to 71GB/s, an increase of 35%.
AIDA64 Cache & Memory Benchmark
We now want to show you the complete AIDA64 Cache & Memory Benchmark so you can also see the latencies between the RAM.
DDR4
With DDR4 the Latencyh is 76.1ns.
DDR5
We actually see the Memory Latency increase with DDR5 up to 82.1ns. That’s an 8% increase in Memory Latency. L2 and L3 Cache copy performance seem to be higher with DDR5, but otherwise, everything else is very similar.
