It’s an exciting day for PlayStation 5 owners who haven’t grown to love the predominately white color scheme of their next-gen consoles.

Sony has shared a new article on the PlayStation Blog confirming that it will be releasing official covers for the PS5 in the very near future. The colors comprise Midnight Black, Cosmic Red, Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple. Installation is easy; they simply need to be clicked in place.

Complementing the covers are also new DualSense Wireless Controllers in Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple. (Cosmic Red and Midnight Black versions of the controllers are already available.)

From PlayStation:

These new console covers are beautiful and easy to use — simply remove your original white PS5 console covers and click your new ones into place. The PS5 console covers will be available for both the PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and the PS5 Digital Edition and are sold separately from the PS5 console and DualSense controller.

The Midnight Black and Cosmic Red PS5 console covers will become available starting in January 2022 at participating retailers in the following locations: USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, and the Philippines. The Nova Pink, Galactic Purple, and Starlight Blue PS5 console covers will also launch in these locations during the first half of 2022. We plan to launch the PS5 console covers in additional territories during the year, and we’ll announce those details as they become available.

Sony hasn’t provided the exact launch dates for its new DualSense wireless controller colors and PS5 console covers for all regions, but it has promised that the DualSense wireless controller in Galactic Purple will be available at on January 14 for the US, UK, France, and Germany, and at participating retailers starting February 11.

The PS5 console covers in Midnight Black and Cosmic Red will also be available on beginning on January 21 and offered at other participating retailers starting February 18.

  1. As @Brian_B hinted at in that other thread, now we know why Sony took such an aggressive stance against’s sale of customized plates for the PS5.

I can’t believe anyone would spend over $50 for this…
