GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6500 XT EAGLE 4G
AMD has provided our review unit today and given us the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6500 XT EAGLE 4G model number GV-R65XTEAGLE-4GD video card to review. In GIGABYTE’s lineup, the EAGLE version of this card seems to see toward the bottom of the stack, with the GAMING OC version sitting above this card in pricing.
The official MSRP of the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6500 XT EAGLE 4G will be $259.99. For comparison, the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6500 XT GAMING OC 4G version will have an MSRP of $299.99. This price is not near AMD’s “SEP” of $199, as we predicted on the previous page.
What’s really neat about the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6500 XT EAGLE 4G is that it has an insanely high clock speed. While AMD specifies a 2610MHz game clock and a boost clock of 2815MHz, our card here was actually running consistently at around 2900MHz out of the box! That’s right, just 100MHz shy of the 3GHz mark, and the cool thing is it was performing at this level for extended periods of time very consistently. We might just be able to hit 3GHz with overclocking, we cannot wait to try.
The GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6500 XT integrates GIGABYTE’s WINDFORCE 2X cooling system. It has uniquely shaped and textured fan blades and the fans spin in opposite directions. This forces the air one way out the top more effectively. It also supports 3D Active Fan which stops the fans at low temps. The fans use a Graphene nano lubricant which extends the life of the fans by up to 2.1x.
The GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6500 XT EAGLE 4G uses a pure copper heat pipe configuration that makes direct contact with the GPU through a copper plate. In terms of power components, it uses GIGABYTE’s Ultra Durable 2 technology. This includes Low RDS(on) MOSFETs, Metal Chokes, and Lower ESR Solid Capacitors.
GIGABYTE also has its AORUS Utility which works with this video card, which allows you to overclock it and change the 3D Active Fan settings and monitor the hardware.
The exact length of the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6500 XT EAGLE 4G is just 7.5 inches with a width of 4.6 inches and a height of 1.4 inches. It is a compact video card and will fit in small systems. It’s also very light in terms of weight. This video card does require one 6-pin power connector and the recommended PSU is 400W. This video card only has one DisplayPort and one HDMI port. There is no RGB on this particular model.
