Synthetic System Benchmarks

We are going to start with synthetic system application benchmarks on this page. Gaming performance will be shown later on.

PCMark 10

Standard PCMark Benchmark

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G vs AMD Ryzen 5 5600G CPU Performance Comparison PCMark 10 Standard PCMark Benchmark graph

In the first graph, we are looking at PCMark 10 standard benchmark test, which is an overall system test. PCMark 10 runs a gauntlet of different office, content creation, and desktop workloads. In PCMark 10’s standard benchmark the Ryzen 7 5700G is 6% faster than the Ryzen 5 5600G. The 5600G is within 6% of the performance of the 5700G.

PCMark Application Benchmark

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G vs AMD Ryzen 5 5600G CPU Performance Comparison PCMark 10 PCMark Applications Benchmark graph

In this graph, we are looking at PCMark 10’s Applications Benchmark.  This test is very specific, it tests the performance of Microsoft Office, using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and even Edge. We are using Microsoft Office 2021 for these tests. Testing Microsoft Office performance the Ryzen 7 5700G is just 4% faster than the Ryzen 5 5600G, proving that the extra cores/threads aren’t as advantageous for general office usage. The clock speed increase makes a difference, but not huge.

3DMark

CPU Profile

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G vs AMD Ryzen 5 5600G CPU Performance Comparison 3DMark CPU Profile Max Threads graph

When comparing the max-threads performance testing in 3DMark’s CPU Profile the Ryzen 7 5700G is 18% faster than the Ryzen 5 5600G. This benchmark shows the advantage of the extra cores/threads the 5700G has over the 5600G. If you are doing heavily multi-threaded applications, the benefit is real and the 5700G is the better option.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G vs AMD Ryzen 5 5600G CPU Performance Comparison 3DMark CPU Profile 1-thread graph

Testing single-core or 1-thread performance the Ryzen 7 5700G is only 5% faster. This is the higher clock speed presenting itself, as the architecture and L3 cache sizes and TDP are the same. Therefore if just doing heavily single-threaded workloads, the two APUs are very close in performance.

Geekbench 5

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G vs AMD Ryzen 5 5600G CPU Performance Comparison Geekbench 5 CPU Benchmark Multi-Core graph

Similar to 3DMark, the Geekbench 5 multi-core testing shows that the Ryzen 7 5700G is 13% faster than the Ryzen 5 5600G. The extra cores/threads are making a difference. The Ryzen 5 5600G is within 11% of the 5700G.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G vs AMD Ryzen 5 5600G CPU Performance Comparison Geekbench 5 CPU Benchmark Single-Core graph

When it comes to single-core performance though the Ryzen 7 5700G is only 4% faster than the Ryzen 5 5600G. The two APUs are very close to each other in single-core performance, with the main difference being clock speed.

PassMark Performance Test
