The Epic Games Store’s latest freebie is Terraforming Mars, a turn-based strategy game from the developers at Asmodee Digital that takes players to space and charges them with building up cities, production, and more on the red planet. Terraforming Mars is based on the board game by FryxGames of the same name, which has since received over a dozen nominations/awards and multiple expansions since its release in 2016. Epic Games Store users have until May 12 at 11:00 a.m. (EST) to grab the game without paying its standard $19.99 price. The next free games are Jotun: Valhalla Edition and Prey, Arkane Studios’ critically acclaimed sci-fi shooter.

Corporations are competing to transform Mars into a habitable planet by spending vast resources and using innovative technology to raise temperature, create a breathable atmosphere, and make oceans of water. As terraforming progresses, more and more people will immigrate from Earth to live on Red Planet.

In Terraforming Mars, you control a corporation with a certain profile. Play project cards, build up production, place your cities and green areas on the map, and race for milestones and awards!

I might load it up to see what it's like. Dunno yet.

I was going to get it last night, but never claimed it myself.

I loaded it up last night, the tutorial was "wall of text" and I wasn't in the mood to sit and puzzle it out at the time.

Something about cards and turn based, but when it finally got done ramming 20+ pages of text instruction at me to let me do something, nothing worked except "Pass".

I don't know. Has promise. Might give it another go if I get a wild hair, but after a few Cinco Margraritas, I just couldn't do it.
