Test Setup

We will be utilizing our test system based on the 12900K CPU and the MSI MEG Z690 UNIFY motherboard to test memory today.

Patriot Viper Venom RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6200MHz Kit review test bench setup

Our testing will include looking at the Patriot Viper Venom RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6200MHz in its default (4800MHz) and XMP (6200MHz) configurations and comparing them to a 32GB set of CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM RGB modules that clock in at 5600MHz sporting timings of 36-36-36-76 which will give us an interesting contrast to see how much the latency plays into performance on this platform.

Overclocking

The brief word on overclocking on these modules is that they were quite uncooperative with us. We pulled various levers to see if we could draw just a little more performance out of them, but going even one notch higher on memory speed (to 6400MHz) or tightening the timings just a hare (to CL36 or CL38) had the modules raising their middle fingers in our general direction.
