We will now take a look at how rendering performance compares.
Cinebench R23
In Cinebench R23 multi-core testing the result for the Ryzen 9 7900X is 29557. This puts it at the top in performance. It outperforms the Core i9-12900K by 10%. Compared to the previous generation Ryzen 9 5900X the new 7900X improves performance by 37%.
The Ryzen 9 7900X has the highest performance in single-core Cinbench R23, surpassing the Intel Core i9-12900K by 27 points. Compared to the Ryzen 9 5900X the new 7900X improves single-core performance by 24%.
Blender Open Data Benchmark
Take note, the Blender Open Data Benchmark has changed, it now runs 3 scenes and spits out a “Samples per Minute” number, where higher samples are better.
In Blender Benchmark, in the monster scene, the Ryzen 9 7900X outperforms every other CPU on this graph. It’s 15% faster than the Core i9-12900K. Compared to the last generation 5900X the new 7900X is 37% faster.
In Blender Benchmark, in the junkshop scene, the Ryzen 9 7900X is again faster than every other CPU. It is 16% faster than the Core i9-12900K. Compared to the last generation 5900X it is 35% faster.
In Blender Benchmark, classroom scene, the new Ryzen 9 7900X is again the fastest CPU in the bunch. It’s 16% faster than the Core i9-12900K. Compared to the 5900X the new 7900X is 41% faster.
V-RAY 5 Benchmark
In V-RAY 5 benchmark the Ryzen 9 7900X is the fastest CPU in the comparison, beating even the higher core count 5950X by quite a bit. Compared to the Core i9-12900K the new 7900X is 21% faster. Compared to the last generation 5900X the new 7900X is 39% faster.
HandBrake
In HandBrake we are testing video transcoding/encoding performance. The new Ryzen 9 7900X increases performance quite a bit over the last generation of CPUs. It moves the performance spectrum way up and now ties with the Intel Core i9-12900K on video encoding performance. This is clearly the best CPU we have reviewed so far if you are transcoding or encoding video, other than the Core i9-12900K, they are on equal footing here.
