Synthetic System Benchmarks
We are going to start with synthetic system application benchmarks on this page. Gaming performance will be shown later on. Note that the graphs are arranged from fastest to slowest and contain all the CPUs on each graph for a large comparison. The Ryzen 9 7900X is highlighted in orange.
PCMark 10
Standard PCMark Benchmark
In PCMark 10’s standard full system benchmark, the new Intel Core i9-13900K takes the lead as the fastest CPU on our graph, beating the Ryzen 9 7950X by a couple of percent. Compared to the Intel Core i9-12900K the new 13900K is 6% faster in overall system performance. We do not have a result on the Ryzen 7 7700X, we encountered a system issue that kept us from receiving a result, so that is not included for this specific test.
PCMark Application Benchmark
In this graph, we are looking at PCMark 10’s Applications Benchmark. This test is very specific, it tests the performance of Microsoft Office, using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and even Edge. We are using Microsoft Office 2021 for these tests. The new Intel Core i9-13900K also seems to lead in MS office performance. It is 3% faster than the AMD Ryze 9 7950X. Compared to the 12900K the new 13900K is 12% faster, which is pretty significant for a performance bump in office applications.
3DMark CPU Profile
In 3DMark’s CPU Profile test, we are running the “Max Threads” test and looking at overall performance. We find that the Ryzen 9 7950X slightly edged out the Core i9-13900K, but only less than a percent, they are practically the same in performance.
In 3DMark’s CPU Profile “1-Thread” test the Intel Core i9-13900K came out on top, performing 9% faster than the Ryzen 9 7900X and 9% faster than the Ryzen 9 7950X.
Geekbench 5
In Geekbench 5 Multi-Core benchmark the new Intel Core i9-13900K also brings home the win in multi-core performance. It is 7% faster than the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X. Compared to the 12900K the new 13900K is 33% faster, that thread advantage is proving to be a big boon here versus the last generation.
Interestingly, in the single-core/single-thread test in Geekbench the Intel Core i9-13900K loses its lead, though it is still the third fastest CPU on this graph. It seems the Ryzen 9 7900X and 7950X both beat the 13900K in single-core performance in Geekbench. The 7900X is about 1% faster. However, the new 13900K does improve upon the previous 12900K by 11% which is a very nice uplift in single-core performance with the new generation.
