Gameplay Performance Continued
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 and uses the REDengine 4. We have the game patched to version 1.61 and perform a long manual run-through driving in the game’s open world. We test using the Graphics Preset option to set graphics settings, mainly “Ultra”. This game supports DLSS and FSR.
In Cyberpunk 2077 we are running at 4K and “Ultra” settings above, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 3% faster with SAM ON and the Radeon RX 7900 XT is almost identical. With FSR2 the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 2% faster with SAM ON and the Radeon RX 7900 XT with FSR2 is almost identical.
With Ultra Ray Tracing turned on at 4K the results are identical on both video cards in Cyberpunk 2077. There is a little difference with FSR2 on the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, but not much here, let’s see what 1440p does.
We actually do see larger results at 1440p, here the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 5% faster with SAM ON and the Radeon RX 7900 XT is also 5% faster with SAM ON.
With Ray Tracing on at 1440p the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 3% faster with SAM ON but the Radeon RX 7900 XT is much closer together with Ray Tracing.
Watch Dogs Legion
Watch Dogs Legion was released on the PC in October of 2020 and uses the Disrupt game engine. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing. We have the HD Texture pack installed and enabled for testing. We use the built-in graphics preset of “Ultra” for testing. This game supports DLSS upscaling.
In Watch Dogs Legion we are at 4K and the highest settings, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is a very big 13% faster with AMD SAM turned ON, that’s pretty significant, and that’s at 4K. The Radeon RX 7900 XT is 6% faster with SAM ON.
With Ray Tracing on at 4K the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 11% faster with SAM ON and the Radeon RX 7900 XT is 6% faster with SAM ON.
At 1440p the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 10% faster with SAM ON and the Radeon RX 7900 XT is 13% faster with SAM ON.
With Ray Tracing at 1440p we see the biggest results yet here, 15% faster with SAM ON on the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and 16% faster with SAM ON on the Radeon RX 7900 XT! That is significant and will change how video cards lineup with each other.
Metro Exodus Enhanced
Metro Exodus Enhanced is being run with Shading Quality at “Extreme” and Ray Tracing at “Ultra.” This is a demanding game, that heavily focuses on Ray Tracing utilization, including Global Illumination. We are utilizing the built-in benchmark.
In Metro Exodus Enhanced, at 4K the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is similar, and we actually see a decrease on the 7900 XT.
At 1440p in Metro Exodus, Enhanced performance is the same on both video cards with SAM on or off.
