RPCS3, a leading open-source emulator that allows PlayStation 3 games to run on Windows, Linux, and other operating systems, now boasts some level of compatibility with every released PS3 title, according to a message that the RPCS3 team sent out over the holidays.

“We are delighted to announce that as of today, the RPCS3 Loadable compatibility category has reached 0 GAMES!” a tweet on the official RPCS3 account dated Christmas 2022 reads.

“This means there are no PS3 games left that boot to a black screen on the emulator – every PS3 game at the very least boots and shows image output,” the RPCS3 explained. “Happy holidays!”

The RPCS3 Compatibility database currently lists a total of 3,393 games, 2,323 of which are described as “playable,” meaning that they can be completed with playable performance and no game-breaking glitches.

Notable titles that are designated as being “playable” on RPCS3 include various Arkham games, including Batman: Arkham City, horror shooter F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, and Silent Hill HD Collection.

“We do not condone piracy of any kind,” reads a warning from the RPCS3 team. “Asking for, providing or discussing illegal download links is not allowed in our communities.”

“Purchasing legitimate game copies, through the PlayStation Store or through acquiring game discs, and using those copies with RPCS3 is the best way to ensure you will have a clean copy that will work with the emulator. You can use your legal copies with RPCS3 by following the instructions in our Quickstart guide.”

RPCS3’s core developers include Megamouse, kd-11, and Nekotekina, all of whom have contributed much to the project thus far, according to the emulator’s Github page.

RPCS3 was initially released on May 23, 2011.
