Power and Temperature – RTX 4070 Overclocked

To test the power and temperature we perform a manual run-through in Cyberpunk 2077 at “Ultra” settings for real-world in-game data.  We use GPU-Z sensor data to record the results.  We report on the GPU-Z sensor data for “Board Power” and “GPU Chip Power” when available for our Wattage data.  For temperature data, we report the GPU (Edge Temp of the GPU or Package Temp) as well as Hot Spot (Junction Temperature) when available for our temperature data.

Power Graph For NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition Overclocked

Overclocking the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition does not demand a lot of power. This video card scales very well on power as you increase frequency and performance. It only gains 13W board power when overclocking GPU and memory together. At this power level, overclocked, it is still lower power than the GeForce RTX 3070! Now that’s power efficiency.

Temperature Graph For NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition Overclocked

For the temperature testing, we did have the fans at 80% while overclocked. Temperatures were never a problem, you can see why we did not need 100% fans. Overclocked, at 80% fans the GPU temp is 57c maximum, staying cooler than anything else. We could have even lowered the fans more, 80% was not needed. We did find the fan noise pretty loud at 100%, it would be annoying, 80% was more tolerable, but realistically you’ll want to dial it down even further.
