Under its banner of memory products, you will find DDR4 and DDR5 desktop memory, SSDs, External Storage, USB Flash Drives, Memory Cards, and Peripheral Products. Today we will be focusing on its SSD line, specifically a PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD. In Netac’s lineup of SSD products, it offers 2.5″ SATA models, M.2 SATA – PCIe Gen3, and PCIe Gen4 models. At the top end of the spectrum is the NV7000 model we will be looking at today. Below that lies the NV5000 models which are also PCIe Gen4 x4, but of the previous Gen4 generation topping out at 4800MB/s. Below that are the NV3000 models which are PCIe Gen3 and top out at 3300MB/s. The NV7000 model we are reviewing today tops out at 7200MB/s PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe speeds, is based on 3D TLC NAND flash technology, has a DRAM cache, and is at appealing pricing right now at the time of writing.

Netac NV7000 SSD

In the Netac NV7000 series, there are two models, the NV7000-t and the NV7000 both with a DRAM cache on board. The NV7000-t offers a 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB model and can achieve up to 7300MB/s read and 6700MB/s write speeds. However, it does not come with an aluminum heatsink, as the NV7000 does. The Netac NV7000 offers a 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB model and can achieve up to 7200MB/s read and 6850MB/s write speeds on the 4TB model, or 7000MB/s read and 6700MB/s write speed on the 2TB model and 7000MB/s read and 5500MB/s write on the 1TB model. The specific model we have for review today is the Netac NV7000 2TB Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD model number NT01NV7000-2T0-E4X and it is at an appealing price of $113 at Amazon at the time of writing.

The Netac NV7000 2TB SSD is an M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe 1.4 SSD using 3D TLC NAND Flash and supporting SLC caching and has a DRAM cache. For the 2TB model we are reviewing today it supports a Sequential Read speed of up to 7000MB/s and a Sequential Write speed of up to 6700MB/s. It has a Random Read speed of 620K IOPS and a Random Write speed of 900K IOPS. It has a TBW of 1280, a 2 million hour MTBF and a 5-year Warranty.

The Netac NV7000 SSD is equipped with intelligent temperature control technology which monitors and regulates the temperature of the components in real-time. The NV7000 comes with a thick aluminum heatsink for improved cooling and fits in the PS5 for expansion. It supports S.M.A.R.T., TRIM, and NCQ.

SSD Pictures

The Netac NV7000 2TB PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD is packed in a good-looking box, and it clearly shows what the SSD will look like so you know what you are getting. The capacity and model number is clearly shown, but it does not show the performance expected. Inside the box is an installation manual and two M.2 screws. The heatsink is pre-applied.

The use of a custom aluminum heatsink is a good move to reduce temperatures and keep it from throttling under high load. This is a pretty robust aluminum heatsink, with thickness and channels for airflow. It is attached to the FLASH chips, controller, and DRAM with thermal pads.

The Netac NV7000 2TB PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD can be configured to use the InnoGrit IG5236 controller or the Phison E18. These are popular and well-known controllers for this generation of Gen4 SSDs. It supports PCIe Gen4 x4 and NVMe 1.4. 3D NAND flash can be configured by way of Micron 176-layer TLC NAND flash B47R, or also 128-layer SK Hynix flash. DRAM cache is SK Hynix DDR4 2666MHz DRAM, which is high-speed.

SUMMARY

We reviewed the Netac NV7000 2TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD, with a fully integrated heatsink, this SSD performed well above expectations in sequential read performance. It held its own in write performance, and managed to have impressive random performance as well. It has all the appropriate features, including SSD management software. We were also excited to see a 4TB high-capacity model offered, with high-endurance. The 2TB model we reviewed has average endurance, but its price value manages to make this SSD appealing for its performance and features.
