Samsung has announced that the ViewFinity S9 (S90PC) is now available for purchase for $1,599.99 on samsung.com and at select retailers nationwide. The ViewFinity S9 is Samsung’s first 5K (5,120 x 2,880) IPS monitor designed for creators, featuring a 27-inch, matte display that offers DCI-P3 99% color gamut, 600 nits of brightness, and Pantone validation. Users will also find Mini DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 4 (90 W), USB-C connectivity, as well as a detachable 4K SlimFit camera.

The ViewFinity S9 is Samsung’s first 5K high resolution IPS display designed for creators (5,120 x 2,880). The 27-inch display offers DCI-P3 99% color gamut and 600 nits of brightness to deliver the color saturation and detail that brings your ideas to life. You can see improved image shadow and highlight details and preserve screen color accuracy with a Matte Display that works to drastically reduces light reflections.
ViewFinity S9 is also Pantone Validated, offering authentic reproduction of more than 2,000 Pantone colors and 100 Pantone SkinTone shades on screen. To customize the display calibration for different projects, the S9 can use your smartphone to adjust settings like DCI-P3 or sRGB color space, color temperature, luminance, and gamma. Smart Calibration allows for simple and intuitive customization without the need for additional, complex calibration tools.
Designed to easily connect Windows and select Mac devices, the ViewFinity S9 has Mini DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 4 (90W) and USB-C connectivity. The slim, metal design works for you in any space, with a height-adjustable screen that tilts for the best angle and 90 degree pivot to view long documents with less scrolling. I guess a built-in camera is not crazy for a monitor, but smart TV apps?! In a monitor?! That's f*cking wwweeeiiirrrddd. I don't even want that stuff on HDTVs let alone monitors.
Doesn't even have any full-size DP or HDMI, it has miniDP and Thunderbolt USB-C, what the f*ck. Yet they charge $1600 for this thing. Aside from resolution, I can get a lot more from regular "gaming" monitors for a lot less money.
This doesn't bother me so much - miniDP is just a cable, no big deal, and HDMI really doesn't belong on a PC monitor anyway.
This is like a non-touch tablet. Can't say I'd be excited for this featureset.

Pisses me off when monitors come with more HDMI ports than DisplayPorts. Like my current primary monitor and the one before it both have 1x DP but 2x HDMI, which makes no f*cking sense to me. I built a MicroATX system for a friend using a GeForce GT 1030, and the only two ports on that card were DVI and HDMI. I couldn't wrap my head around that one. His monitor is also HDMI-only. How the f*ck can a display call itself a PC monitor if the only port it has is HDMI?
