Gameplay Performance 1440p
On this page, we are going to focus on the 1440p gameplay performance with the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black video card. We will include DLSS and FSR performance on the same graph in the games that are supported. We will use DLSS on NVIDIA GPUs and FSR on AMD GPUs. 1080p and Ray Tracing performance will be shown on separate pages.
Alan Wake 2
Alan Wake 2 was launched on the PC in October of 2023 and is based on the Northlight Engine. The game supports detailed graphics and ray tracing with path tracing support. This game defaults to DLSS or FSR but does allow Native AA resolution settings with DLSS or FSR respectively. We can utilize Super Sampling upscaling, and for our graphs, we will just call that DLSS or FSR. We utilize the graphics presets to set High quality, as well as the Ray Tracing presets to set Low or High quality. We use a manual run-through in the Initiation 5: Room 665 chapter.
In Alan Wake 2 we can see that the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black is 11% faster than the Radeon RX 7600 and 8% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060. Overclocking boosts performance by 7.5%, but that is a small framerate increase. At 1440p, it is not playable in this game without FSR at this resolution, but with FSR it’s at 60FPS.
Starfield
Starfield was released on the PC in September of 2023 and is based on the Creation Engine 2. This game supports DLSS and FSR as well as Dynamic Resolution. When using upscaling, Dynamic Resolution is enabled, and we utilize the 75% slider option, which is the default setting when Ultra settings are applied. We are using the highest Ultra settings in the game for all testing, and for upscaling, we use the highest quality settings. We use a manual run-through in the New Atlantis area encompassing all areas.
In Starfield, we can see that the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black is a noticeable 15% faster than the Radeon RX 7600 and 18% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060. Overclocking improves performance by 6.5%. You will want FSR on in this game at 1440p for the best performance on the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black.
Returnal
Returnal was launched on the PC in February of 2023 and is based on Unreal Engine 4. The game supports real-time ray tracing effects, particle systems, and volumetric rendering. We utilize the graphics preset to set EPIC graphics settings with unlocked framerate, and everything is enabled except ray tracing, we have screen-space reflections on. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Returnal the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black is 4% faster than the Radeon RX 7600, but the GeForce RTX 4060 is 5% faster than the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black. Once we overclock it though, that ranking changes, the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black gains 8% in performance. This game is playable without upscaling, but that certainly helps at 1440p.
Forspoken
Forspoken was released on January 24th, 2023, on the PC and uses the Luminous Engine. The game supports all upscaling methods and Ray Tracing. We are going to customize the settings and enable the highest graphics settings, including Ultra High Texture Memory. We use the built-in benchmark.
Something extraordinary is happening in Forspoken where the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black is 42% faster than the Radeon RX 7600, and 19% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060. This may be due to the extra VRAM, and the Radeon RX 7600 was just that limited, but then we’d expect to see that on the RTX 4060 as well. It could also be likely that the newer drivers we are using from AMD for the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black have some performance improvements in this game, we just don’t know for sure here. This kind of scaling was also shown at 1080p, as you will see on the next page, which doesn’t make sense either if it was a VRAM issue, It is more likely it’s due to a driver difference, so we just have to put that out there as a possible.
Chernobylite Enhanced Edition
Chernobylite, based on Unreal Engine 4, was released on the PC in 2021, but the Enhanced Edition update for the game was released in April 2022. The Enhanced Edition provides a visual overhaul of the game with better textures, plus introduces tessellation and ray tracing features. It features raytraced reflections, raytraced translucency, raytraced caustics, and raytraced dynamic diffuse global illumination. It supports upscaling, and we use the highest quality. We use the built-in benchmark.
Here the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black is only 2% faster than the Radeon RX 7600, we definitely are not VRAM limited here in this game at 1440p, that isn’t affecting performance at all. The small clock difference doesn’t do a whole lot for this particular game at 1440p. The game is still playable though, perfectly playable without upscaling. Overclocking improves performance by 8%, so this game could be more sensitive to memory bandwidth than GPU clock speed.
Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2 was released in February 2022 on the PC and uses Techland’s C-Engine. The game supports Ray Tracing, DLSS, and FSR2. We use the built-in preset to set “HIGH QUALITY” which sets the highest game graphics, without Ray Tracing. We manually enable DX12 and ASYNC Compute. We use the built-in benchmark.
Here the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black is also only 2% faster than the Radeon RX 7600, not much difference really in performance, both cards are playable without upscaling at 1440p. Overclocking improves performance by 9%, again this could have more to do with memory bandwidth increasing in our overclock.
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 and uses the REDengine 4. We have the game patched to version 2.0 and utilize the built-in benchmark. We test using the Graphics Preset option to set graphics settings to “Ultra”. We utilize the highest quality upscaling.
In Cyberpunk 2077 the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black is 7% faster than the Radeon RX 7600 at 1440p and 20% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060. The game isn’t exactly the smoothest or playable though, until we use FSR. Overclocking improves performance by 8%.
