Test Setup

Please read the information on our GPU testing procedures and methodology here.  Note that our GPU Testing Bench has been upgraded to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU and AM5 platform.

XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black Edition System Setup

Note that we have the 1807 BIOS installed, which uses AGESA version Combo AM5 PI 1.1.0.1. We are using the motherboard’s current default BIOS settings on the latest release BIOS. We have enabled PCI-Express Resizable BAR in the motherboard BIOS.  This means we are utilizing Resizable BAR on NVIDIA GPUs and AMD Smart Access Memory on AMD GPUs in all our testing.  We have enabled EXPO I in the BIOS for the memory.

We are using a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro with the latest Windows Updates, including the 23H2 Fall 2023 update. We have the latest drivers installed including the latest chipset drivers from AMD.  We are using the “Balanced” power profile in Windows Settings.  Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling is ENABLED in Windows.  VBS is DISABLED and Game Mode is ENABLED.

For the XFX Speedster QICK 309 RX 7600 XT Black, we are using AMD-supplied drivers to support it. For the AMD Radeon RX 7600 we are using a made-by-AMD video card, and the latest drivers on the web at the time of testing, we tried the drivers that AMD sent for the XFX Speedster QICK 309 RX 7600 XT Black but they would not work on the Radeon RX 7600. For our comparison card, we are using an ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC Edition video card that we have reviewed because the GeForce RTX 4060 does not have a Founders Edition. The ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC Edition does have a factory overclock.

SUMMARY

We reviewed the XFX Speedster QICK 309 Radeon RX 7600 XT Black Edition Video Card, a 16GB video card for $349. It performs very well, exceeding the Radeon RX 7600 and GeForce RTX 4060 in performance, with a lot of headroom for gaming in 2024-2025 and beyond. It's not the most power efficient video card, but makes up for it in its cooling performance and overclocking ability. The price value is actually very good since you are getting 16GB of VRAM at a $350 price-point, something that is unheard of in today's market, but extremely welcomed.
