Gameplay Performance at 1080p with Ray Tracing
In this section, we use the same comparison setup, while enabling Ray Tracing features in each game. We also enable FSR or DLSS, again depending on the game and video card(s) used. As we enable Ray Tracing the game demands increase, usually dramatically.
Alan Wake 2
In enabling Ray Tracing here we had to choose the “Low” preset. Anything else automatically enables path tracing which is too demanding for the cards in this review.
If we are to use a 60 FPS baseline to define playable, none of the cards has the stuff. This game is fairly slow-paced and at or near 50 FPS runs quite well. Regardless, the graphics are quite nice and ray tracing does add to the atmosphere. Our ASRock Radeon RX 7600 XT Steel Legend 16G OC runs essentially even with the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7600 Gaming OC. The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile is the quickest by 10%. Overclocking once again adds 12% and is the best performer! Not even upscaling reaches the 60FPS barrier in this game.
Returnal
The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile is the only card playable without upscaling. The ASRock Radeon RX 7600 XT Steel Legend 16G OC is 6% quicker than the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7600 Gaming OC and almost reaches the 60FPS plateau. With upscaling all cards are nicely playable. The ASRock Radeon RX 7600 XT Steel Legend 16GB OC is 4% faster with upscaling.  Overclocking does give a nice 14% boost here.
Forspoken
The ASRock Radeon RX 7600 XT Steel Legend 16G OC comes out very well in this game. It is still not playable without upscaling, but neither are any of the cards except for the overclock. FPS is 4% and 46% better and jumps to 10 and 65% better with upscaling. As was mentioned in the Launch Review, there is something amiss here with the RX 7600. We are using the same public release drivers, but the results are not even as close as they are in our other benchmarks. It may be a game issue or a VRAM issue. Overclocking again rewards the ASRock Radeon RX 7600 XT Steel Legend 16G OC with the top slot, by 10%.
Chernobylite Enhanced Edition
This is a surprisingly beautiful game, but it really gut-punches most video cards when ray tracing is enabled. Only the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile was able to make a playable showing, but only with upscaling. The GIGABYTE RX 7600 had a very rough time. Our ASRock Radeon RX 7600 XT Steel Legend 16G OC dropped back by 54 and 44% here. Overclocking added 12% but was still shy of 60FPS.
Dying Light 2
None of the cards could make it to 60FPS before upscaling. That being said, upscaling provided playable framerates to all three cards. The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile was again the quickest by roughly 40%. The ASRock Radeon RX 7600 XT Steel Legend 16G OC gains 5% over the GIGABYTE RX 7600 Gaming OC in upscaling performance.  Overclocking added 11%.
Cyberpunk 2077
The results are similar to our other benchmarks in Ray Tracing. Only the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile was playable in Cyberpunk and then only with upscaling. The ASRock Radeon RX 7600 XT Steel Legend 16G OC and the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7600 Gaming OC were bringing up the rear again in an identical fashion. The difference was 30%. Overclocking did add 12% but wasn’t enough. Testing here at “Ultra” is probably not recommended for these cards.
