Windows 10 is now the most popular OS among Steam users, reclaiming its position from Windows 11, while the GeForce RTX 4060 is now the most popular GPU among gamers on Valve’s digital distribution service and storefront, according to the February 2025 edition of the Steam Hardware & Software Survey.

Here’s a copy of the latest stats, which would also suggest that a good amount of Steam users have upgraded from 16 GB to 32 GB of RAM:

One outlet has noted:

…the most likely explanation for these rather large changes in operating system and memory configurations can be found by looking at the most popular user language in the survey. Typically, it flip flops between English and Simplified Chinese on a monthly basis, but for February, the latter shot up 20.88% to garner 50.06% of the survey.

“Steam conducts a monthly survey to collect data about what kinds of computer hardware and software our customers are using,” reads a description for the Steam Hardware & Software Survey. “Participation in the survey is optional, and anonymous. The information gathered is incredibly helpful to us as we make decisions about what kinds of technology investments to make and products to offer.”
