Rebel Wolves has announced that its first game out of the gate, The Blood of Dawnwalker, will arrive on September 3 for PCs and consoles. The studio, formed by former staff from CD PROJEKT RED who worked on The Witcher 3, first announced its debut project in December 2024. Since then, there’s been a somewhat steady flow of updates regarding its progress, and on April 28, the official launch and system requirements were revealed along with a new trailer.
“The Blood of Dawnwalker is the first chapter of Rebel Wolves’ brand new role-playing saga — a single-player open-world dark fantasy action-RPG with a strong focus on story and narrative. Developed on Unreal Engine 5 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox X|S.”

“14th-century Europe. Bloody conflicts sweep the lands, and the Black Death comes for the survivors. Vampires seize their opportunity to walk out of the shadows and claim what they’ve been denied for centuries: freedom, and the power that comes with it.”
– Rebel Wolves
Players will take on the role of Coen, who was turned at an early age during a dark period in history. He’s torn between worlds in an attempt to save his family or enact revenge within 30 days, but can he save his soul in the process? Built using Unreal Engine 5, Blood of Dawnwalker already has some impressive-looking visuals, and folks are already complimenting its music as well. Folks wanting to see the game at its highest (Ultra) settings in 4K are going to need an RTX 5090, but otherwise it appears the game will scale nicely with an assortment of other GPUs in 1080p/1440p.

Rebel Wolves co-founder and The Blood of Dawnwalker director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who also directed The Witcher 3, hasn’t been shy about his confidence in the new game or what the team wanted it to be. He shared the following with Eurogamer.
“But I’m really confident, and the game we have is really great, and I think that RPG players are waiting for bigger games like ours, which are telling good stories and giving freedom and following them to play the role in these words. And I keep my fingers crossed and I think we’ll be good.”

Below are a series of gameplay overview videos that should give a good idea of what to expect from the game. While players have to keep in mind that the clock is ticking down to complete whatever they choose as their ultimate goal within 30 days, they will also have to strategize on how Coen interacts with the world around him since his powers and weaknesses change during the day or night.
