Motherboard Performance

Testing the MSI MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WiFi II was accomplished using the benchmarks below. The following components were used: Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF, Kingston Fury KF582C40-24(48GB), Team TForce Dark AirFlow GE Pro Gen5 NVME, ADATA SX8 100NP NVME, and the ASRock RX 7600 XT Steel Legend 16GB OC video card. Comparison results are discussed from the recent reviews of the ASUS TUF GAMING Z890-PLUS WiFi and the MSI Z890 GAMING PLUS WiFi6E, as these boards are similarly outfitted.

Our testing in the benchmark suite shows identical results with the ASUS TUF GAMING Z890 PLUS WiFi and the MSI Z890 GAMING PLUS WiFi6E. Any differences in results between the boards is most likely due to the CU-DIMMs we used. (which are very fast, by the way)

VRM Temperature

MSI MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WiFi II motherboard: performance: temperatures

In this test, we run Cinebench R23 multicore for 20 minutes minimum and then record the temperatures across the heatsinks using HWInfo64.  The CPU temperatures reached a maximum of 83C, 100% utilization, and 5188MHz. VRM temperatures averaged 41C, MOS 40.5C and PCH 53C. There was no thermal throttle, and no stability issues were encountered.

SUMMARY

In this review we examine the MSI MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WiFi II motherboard. The MAG TOMAHAWK line of motherboards represents a solid, no frills gaming platform. This board is exactly what we have come to expect from the TOMAHAWK line-up. The motherboard supports Intel Core Ultra CPUs, DDR5 memory and Gen5 storage and PCIe lanes. The current price point makes it quite desirable but should be closely compared to the original MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WiFi.
