Gaming Performance (Al-Do)
In our game performance testing, we are utilizing an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 FE video card. We are running each game at 1080p, Native Resolution, and we are using mostly the highest game settings. However, in Clair Obscur, we have lowered the game settings. We are using manual in-game run-throughs for each game and reporting the average FPS and 1% Lows. It is important to note the 1% Lows in many instances, especially in those where the AVG is close; the 1% Lows may not be. All games are running the latest versions. All graphs are organized from fastest to slowest by AVG.
Alan Wake 2

Straight away, the games are going to highlight the difference between the X3D CPUs and the non-X3D CPUs, not so much about core count here, but about whether the CPU has extra 3D V-Cache or not. In Alan Wake 2, the two X3D CPUs dominate performance over the non-X3D CPUs. The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D is 12% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is 8% faster than the Ryzen 9 9950X. What is more impressive are the 1% Lows. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D 1% Lows are 31% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X! The Ryzen 9 9950X3D 1% Lows are 25% faster than the Ryzen 9 9950X. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D is mighty impressive when it comes to gaming performance. It sits on par with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU performance for gaming in this game.
Battlefield 6

The trend continues in Battlefield 6, where the two X3D CPUs are uplifting performance over the non-X3D CPUs. The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D is 7% faster in average FPS and 11% faster in 1% Lows. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is 6% faster in average FPS and 12% faster in 1% Lows. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is about 1% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X3D in average FPS and 1% Lows.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the performance difference between the two X3D CPUs is quite prominent. We lowered this game to Medium quality to avoid GPU bottlenecking in this particular game. The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D is 19% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X in average FPS and 23% faster in 1% Lows. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is 12% faster than the Ryzen 9 9950X in average FPS and 20% faster in 1% Lows. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is about 3% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X3D in 1% Lows, but otherwise the two CPUs are dead even in average FPS. Interestingly, the Ryzen 9 9900X itself seems to have a performance deficit in this game. The Ryzen 9 9900X is 6% slower than the Ryzen 9 9950X.
Crimson Desert

In Crimson Desert we are using a new manual run-through inside a town, that stresses the CPU more than the out and open world for GPU testing. This benchmark run shows the advantage that faster CPUs and X3D CPUs can make in this game in these densely NPC-populated areas. The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D is 18% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X in average FPS and a whopping 27% faster in 1% Lows! The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is 12% faster than the Ryzen 9 9950X in average FPS and 16% faster in 1% Lows. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is about 1% faster in average FPS than the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and about 3% faster in 1% Lows. Again, the Ryzen 9 9900X suffers the most in this game. The Ryzen 9 9950X is 6% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X.
Cyberpunk 2077

Note that for ALL testing above, we are using the newly released Patch 2.5 Update for Cyberpunk 2077. This data represents the new patch being installed. Once again, we can really see how much the X3D boosts performance over the non-X3D CPUs. The X3D CPUs allow up to 25% more performance in Cyberpunk 2077. The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D is 22% faster in average FPS compared to the Ryzen 9 9900X and 19% faster in 1% Lows. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is 25% faster than the Ryzen 9 9950X in average FPS and 22% faster in 1% Lows. Here, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D has a more significant performance boost over the Ryzen 9 9900X3D. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is 5% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X3D in average FPS and 7% faster in 1% Lows.
Doom: The Dark Ages

Doom: The Dark Ages isn’t as prominent in the differences as some of the previous games, but we are still seeing the advantages of the X3D CPUs over the non-X3D CPUs. The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D is 9% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X in average FPS and about the same in the 1% Lows. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is 6% faster than the Ryzen 9 9950X in average FPS, with the 1% Lows being 2% faster. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D has slightly higher 1% Lows compared to the Ryzen 9 9900X3D. The Ryzen 9 9900X again suffers the most. The Ryzen 9 9950X is 3% faster than the Ryzen 9 9900X.
