Squadron 42 Reveals over an Hour of New Footage as Cloud Imperium Games Announces 2026 Release Date for Single-Player Star Citizen Game

CitizenCon 2954 has wrapped, and with it comes over an hour of new footage for Squadron 42, the new single-player narrative space adventure set in the Star Citizen universe that is said to feature what developer Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) has described as action-packed space combat, grand cinematic storytelling, and incomparable scale and fidelity. The new game, which was originally expected to launch in 2014, is now intended to release in 2026, according to a press release that CIG shared today. A live gameplay reveal that features performances from several Hollywood stars, including Gary Oldman and Henry Cavill, can be found below.

Squadron 42 is a cinematic, single-player sci-fi adventure set in the universe of Star Citizen. Fight the good fight in an epic and immersive narrative full of action and intrigue; facing off against ruthless enemies in strategic FPS battles on foot and intense space combat from a cockpit. The epic space adventure will be experienced alongside a stunning all-star cast including Mark Hamill, Eleanor Tomlinson, Gary Oldman, John Rhys-Davies, Sophie Wu, Jonathan Bailey, and Henry Cavill.
