Red Dead Redemption 2

We are using the latest version of the brand-new game Red Dead Redemption 2.  This game is very taxing on graphics.  We are using the in-game built-in benchmark for our tests.  This is the most real-world benchmark we’ve ever seen, it’s exactly the kind of run-through we’d choose in the game to use.  It runs just like a player were playing the game so we are very confident in its results.  This game runs by default in the Vulkan API, there is a DX12 option but we chose to use the default Vulkan API on all video cards.  We are utilizing the graphics quality slider to select the highest “Quality Favored” preset for testing.

The AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT runs this game very well.  The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER is the slowest video card here, it’s a big step down in performance.  The AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT reference video card is actually performance matching the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER!

Remember, the reference AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER are price competitive with an MSRP of $399 each.  However, in this game, the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT is 13% faster than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER.  The AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT is so fast in fact that it performance matches the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER which is $100 more expensive at $499 MSRP!

The more expensive ASUS ROG STRIX RX 5700 XT O8G GAMING improves upon performance even more and exceeds the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER by a great margin.  Firstly, the ASUS ROG STRIX RX 5700 XT O8G GAMING is 4% faster than the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT and the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.  When we overclock it performance increases by 4% and now performance is 8% faster than the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.

This game is very demanding as you can see, with performance generally in the 40’s with these video cards.  Naturally, the overclocked ASUS ROG STRIX RX 5700 XT O8G GAMING is the fastest video card and offers the best gameplay experience here.
