Storage Disk Benchmarks

Next, we are going to look at the results from a couple of storage benchmarks from applications.  PCMark10 has a new system drive benchmark we are going to use.  We are running the full system drive benchmark in PCMark 10 and reporting the result.  In the future we’ll have more data to compare this with.  We are also using the built-in Disk Benchmark in MiniTool Partition Wizard to provide sequential and random read and write data.

PCMark 10 Full System Drive Benchmark

PCMark 10 Storage Benchmark

The PCMark 10 full-system drive benchmark total score result is 1413.  The average access time is 230.59 MB/s.  Just so that we can at least have some form of comparison for you we ran this test also on a 1TB Mushkin SATA SSD.  The total score result for that SSD was 805 and the average access time is 133.71 MB/s.  That gives you some form of comparison of how this NVMe SSD compares to a SATA SSD.

Above you will see all the results for both sequential and random read and writes.  We are using the default settings here, which has small transfer sizes.  If you’d like to offer suggestions on other settings, we can set within this program to test in more specific ways to your interest please let us know in the comments.  You can see all the values above that we are allowed to customize in this software, which will yield different results.  We want to make sure the data is relevant to your interests so let us know the best transfer size, total length, queue number, thread number etc.
