Red Dead Redemption 2

As you read through all of our game performance, keep in mind that the XFX Radeon RX 5700 XT THICC III Ultra is $420-$440.  Then keep in mind that the GeForce RTX 2070 is faster than a GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER, and both are at the same price as the XFX video card.  Also keep in mind that the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER is at least $100 more expensive, and sometimes much more.

In Red Dead Redemption 2 we are testing here at 1440p with the highest in-game settings, which is very demanding for any video card.  The XFX RX 5700 XT THICC III Ultra is faster than the GeForce RTX 2070 by 12%.  It improves upon a reference AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT by 8%.  It is at the same performance as the more expensive GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER FE video card.  Overclocked it now beats the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER FE.  Overclocking has improved performance by 4%.

We also tested the game at 1080p, which performs a lot better.  The thing is, the XFX Radeon RX 5700 XT THICC III Ultra is now the fastest video card of the bunch.  It is actually as fast as the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER FE.  Overclocking it improves performance by 5%.  The XFX RX 5700 XT is 9% faster than the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT.  It simply blows the doors off the GeForce RTX 2070 performance, let alone the RTX 2060 SUPER.

Metro Exodus

In Metro Exodus, we used the built-in benchmark to gather data.  We started here at 1440p with “Extreme” settings.  Like Red Dead 2 it is very hard on performance.  However, we see a similar pattern.  The XFX Radeon RX 5700 XT THICC III Ultra is as fast as the more expensive GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER FE.

When we test at 1080p things look very similar to Red Dead 2.  The XFX Radeon RX 5700 XT THICC III Ultra is a bit faster now than the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER FE.
