Game Performance Part 1
The “OVERCLOCKED NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 FE” in all our tests to follow is overclocked according to the overclocking page in this review. That is an average GPU frequency of 1991MHz and a memory frequency of 20.8GHz. All other cards are at default settings.
Red Dead Redemption 2
The first game we have is Red Dead Redemption 2 running at 1440p with the highest in-game settings under the Vulkan API. We custom set all the in-game options to “Ultra” or the highest setting available, including all the options under Advanced options. Right off the bat, we can see that even at 1440p we are seeing a performance increase with the GeForce RTX 3080 FE overclocked. It is 9% faster than it is at default and gets us closer to that 90FPS mark in this game. Compared to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FE the overclocked RTX 3080 is 30% faster.
In the above graph, we are running at 4K with the highest in-game settings. Overclocking the RTX 3080 improves performance by 9% again and gets us at the 60FPS mark at 4K. Compared to the RTX 2080 Ti FE it is 33% faster.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint
In Ghost Recon Breakpoint we are running the game at 1440p with the “Ultimate” preset setting selected. The overclocked RTX 3080 improves upon performance by 6%. Compared to the RTX 2080 Ti FE it is 32% faster.
In the above graph, we have pushed the game up to 4K. At 4K we see a larger 9% performance improvement with the overclocked RTX 3080 versus default. It seems that 1440p may have been slightly CPU dependent for the overclock, but 4K pushes it harder to show the difference. Compared to the RTX 2080 Ti FE the overclocked RTX 3080 is 42% faster, that’s quite a difference.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn we are running at 1440p with the highest in-game settings. The overclocked RTX 3080 is 6% faster than the default performance. Compared to the RTX 2080 Ti FE it is 29% faster.
At 4K the overclocked RTX 3080 FE is 8% faster than at default. Once again this shows a greater advantage with the overclocking at 4K versus 1440p. Compared to the RTX 2080 Ti FE it is 37% faster.
