Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

Intel Core i9-11900K CPU Review Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 1080p

In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 we are running at 1080p with “Ultra” settings.  This one is a shocker, and the CPUs make quite a difference in performance in this game.  For this game, the difference between 57 FPS (at the top) versus 48 FPS (at the bottom) is massive for gameplay smoothness.  That’s a 17% difference between the top of the graph and the bottom.  It makes a noticeable impact on the gameplay experience.

The new Intel Core i9-11900K is just the way to go if you want to play MS Flight Sim 2020.  Even without Adaptive Boost enabled its performance is above the Ryzen 9 5900X.  Turn on Adaptive Boost and it really helps a lot.  The Ryzen 7 5800X seems to suffer quite a bit compared to the Intel CPUs.

Even at 4K, we are seeing differences, and typically we are 100% GPU bound here.  However, the Ryzen 9 5900X and the new Intel Core i9-11900K actually provide a higher result.  This time it’s the i9-10900K that comes in at the bottom.

Assassins Creed Valhalla

In Assassins Creed: Valhalla performance is very close.  We do see the Core i9-11900K come in at the bottom without Adaptive Boost.  The 5800X is 3% faster.   But turn on Adaptive Boost and the i9-11900K comes back to perform near the same.  The older Core i9-10900K seems to have a leg up in this game for some reason at 1080p.

At 4K we still see some differences emerge as well.  The Core i9-10900K is on top for some reason, while the newer Intel Core i9-11900K suffers at the bottom. The 5800X and 5900X are dead even.
